Objective statement

EDUCATE AND SHARE INFORMATION ON THE REDUCTION OF GREENHOUSE GAS through seminars, workshops, web site, worship, green tips, displays, library materials, etc. made available to the Fairlawn community starting this spring and continuing in the coming years.

CREATE A “FAIRLAWN GREEN ACTION” LOGO to represent our greening program that is recognizable in the community and can appear on our signs, in our web site, and on all printed communications.

Status
The Communication Action Team continues to update the Fairlawn Green Action Web Site, send out emails to our "green" distribution list, provide green tips in the Sunday Bulletin, encourage people to influence politicians and governments, provide information at our Green Table at coffee hour, advertise green events throughout the city, make presentations in the community, organize activities such as Clean Up Day, and network with other green agencies such as the Toronto Green Community, Greening Sacred Spaces, Green Awakening Network, Eglinton St. George's Church and Glenview Presbyterian. Click here to get all the details of what we have been doing.

The green action logo was created.  It appears on this web site, and is now being used on our flyers. Our focus is "Think globally. Act locally."

This "Fairlawn Green Action" web site has been created and expanded, updated weekly, providing tips, interesting reading, announcements of what's happening around the globe, inspiring quotes, notification of seminars, conferences, workshops, rallies, marches and film festivals in the city and at Fairlawn. The web site is structured to be relevant to members of both the Fairlawn Neighbourhood Centre and Fairlawn Avenue United Church.

The Green Team's "Green Quiz" to test the Recycling knowledge has been a big hit, stimulating questions about recycling.

The email "Green Tips" are sent regularly to our distribution list, such as the tip on composting at home called "Waste Today, Soil Tomorrow".  If you haven't been receiving these, but would like to be on the distribution list for the Green Tips, contact Fairlawn Green Action at fairlawngreenteam@gmail.com.  News and status of our "Fairlawn Green Action" initiatives appear each Sunday in the Fairlawn Bulletin.

We promote city and global events such as seminars, green film festivals, Earth Hour, Earth Day, the Commuter Challenge, etc. to encourage people to change their habits to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The Green Resource Corner is available in the Fairlawn library to browse or sign out any of the material.
