The Fairlawn Green Action program
We've been active since 2006 and here's a summary of our accomplishments
History
Building on a concern for the environment in previous years, our focus
on green action took off in the fall and winter of 2006/2007 with our
concerted effort to follow the "Energy Action Planner" checklist to
reduce greenhouse gas emissions at home and at the church facility, and
with our "Making Connections" seminars. Our purpose was to expand the knowledge of the Fairlawn Community
regarding the
concepts of global warming, and to discuss what we could do to make a
difference.
The Fairlawn Green Action program took form at our March 25, 2007 "Taking
Action" workshop to address how we, as a Fairlawn faith community, and in
partnership with the Fairlawn Neighbourhood Centre, would help to reduce
greenhouse gas emissions.
Our goal was to identify at least one Action Item for each of our
original six Action
Areas, document the objective for each Action Item, and begin to plan the steps
to successfully complete those Action Items.
The focus area for transportation was added in 2008.
