The Senior Choir of Fairlawn Avenue
United is an auditioned group of approximately 40 members, including a 9-member
professional core.
The Seniors are responsible for an
introit and two anthems and all of the service music every Sunday from September
through June at the 10:30 service. In addition, the Senior choir performs at
special services such as Lessons and Carols, and the late Christmas Eve service,
and presents special music twice a year. Past works have included Magnificat
(Vivaldi), Requiem (Daley) and Lux Aeterna (Lauridsen).
Under the direction of renowned
composer/director Eleanor Daley, the choir has recorded two CDs often heard on CBC
Radio (What Sweeter
Music and Canticle to the Spirit) and is working on their third CD (Magnificat
Live!) to be released in the fall 2009.
Senior choir members must have singing experience and excellent music-reading
skills in order to cover that amount and level of music.
